Why i have done what i'v done

Marilyn Monroe

I used her because.....

• shes know by everybody, i dont think you could find anybody above 16 who doesnt know who she is and what she looks like.
• She was fake, but a good fake. She was very clever and just pretended to be a dumb blonde cause she knew thats what was going to make her famous, and it worked she went from orphan to biggest female star of all time.
• That skirt thing she did is a very well known thing and she recreated it on the red carpet at the premiere of the film i believe (from what i have seen in photos)
• alot of her quotes were about being fake in one way or another.
• she was tasty

the red quote carpet

• i dont know were the red carpet quote idea came from, it was a light bulb moment and i was glad to see the back of the mask idea so as soon as i had the idea i was happy to go with it.
• its very typographicly strong
• it still used my fame is a mask that eats into the face concept but more subtly

The red rope things at the side

• because all movie premieres seem to have them
• and because i thought having the fame is a mask quote as the red rope would good

The colours and graphic style

• The main reason is this is what it looked like in my head when i had the idea
• I used the colours to keep it simple and cause they are really strong
• Its typographicly strong

Things i would change?

• Having the idea in time to enter it

DONE!

I have made a few minor alterations to the layout and smoothed some bits out on marilyn but you proboly couldnt tell at a small size.

I hated this brief until i had this idea, but its one of my favorite pieces of design that i have done, i want to get this printed at door poster size for my bedroom at a later date.



Mike saves the shadow

After 3 hours of playing with the f....shadow, i asked mike to have another go at it, and a new more complicated way of making the shadow transparent was found that worked.

I dont know why i couldnt slide the opacity bar down a few percent like i have done countless times before but it wasnt ever going to happen. What should of taken a few seconds took up quite a few hours.



The shadow

I wanted to put a shadow on Marilyn and it looked good, but for some reason every time i made it transparent the whole image went to shit, all the edges went jaggy and the colour saturated.

 I tried doing it in all the software on all about 4 computers (pc and mac) and it was having none of it so the shadow will have to be pure black because i think the image needs it.

I have the parts so its time to put them together and see how it looks and what needs to be done.



Fancy red rope things

Here are the F.R.R.T that would go done the side of the red carpet at something like a movie premiere. I have used the fame is a mask that eats into the face quote to create the red rope.

They look good together but it needs some of the fancy red rope things they always have so it looks like its a movie premeire or something.
